Network Test: Dan Elwell’s Broadband Speed Test

This test has been designed to be as accurate, reliable and powerful as possible while still accommodating non-technical users. Powerful features are explained clearly, using colour coded charts and helpful evaluations.  There’s also a comprehensive help file detailing how to use the Speed Test, what each test means and what you can do to improve the results. Colourful icons help guide you through the Speed Test process.

The Speed Test tests many more areas of your connection than traditional web based Speed Tests – it measures ping times, download speeds, upload speeds, packet loss, performs trace routes and receives your network configuration information. This is all made possible through its downloadable file, only 2MB in size. You simply download the file, run the Setup program and use the test whenever you like.

Unlike traditional web based tests which simply perform a test and show you the results, this Speed Test allows you to archive your results in the Portfolio, and access them at any time. You can also export your results to a number of file formats, including word processing documents, spreadsheets and web pages. In addition to this you can send your results to somebody with the click of a button!

Scheduled Testing allows you to configure tests to execute automatically at the times you specify. You can create daily or weekly tests, and there’s no limit to how many tests you can specify. Results are automatically archived and you can choose to automatically export the results to file, print the results or even have the results automatically e-mailed to you.

The ‘textual report’ view and the ‘Additional Diagnostics’ screen allow you to easily generate diagnostics that you can send to your Broadband provider should you experience problems. You can use the ‘e-mail’ function to send the results to your ISP with minimum effort.
